Messenia

Our kalamata olives and koroneiko olive oil come from the region of Messenia.
During the era of the Ottoman and Venetian empires, Koroni and Methoni served as the initial two ports for exporting olive oil to Europe. Subsequently, the Port of Navarino and, finally, the port of Kalamata became essential hubs for all trade and export activities in the region.
The cultivation of the Koroneiki variety of olives became dominant throughout Messinia county. After the post-war period, olive trees covered the majority of cultivated land in Messinia. Kalamata oil is continually gaining popularity and remains a top choice in growing international markets.
Today, Messinia has transformed into an extensive olive grove. Its “golden treasure,” the olive oil, reaches every corner of the world, offering not only its distinct flavors but also its healing qualities.
