Chalkidiki

The green olives of Chalkidiki grow and are harvested in Chalkidiki, Greece.

Chalkidiki peninsula, lies in Northern Greece within the region of Central Macedonia. The distinctive shape of the peninsula resembles three outstretched fingers, with each finger forming a smaller peninsula: Kassandra, Sithonia, and Athos (also known as Mount Athos).

Chalkidiki has a rich historical background, being colonized by the Chalkians and Eretrians in the 8th century. Its history is well-documented, spanning through significant events like the Persian Wars, the Athenian alliance, the Macedonians’ era, as well as the periods of the Romans and Byzantium, extending all the way to the present day.

The beauty of Chalkidiki is truly remarkable, boasting lush vegetation, flowing waters, natural springs, lakes, creeks, and pristine beaches with crystal clear water, all surrounded by verdant forests featuring century-old trees. The villages in Chalkidiki, whether nestled in the mountains or along the coast, are especially picturesque, showcasing traditional architecture that adds to the charm of the region.
